Oyster Stew Recipe With Bacon

Unlike the original campbell's recipe, this one uses much less sodium (because it's prepared fresh), which, combined with the potassium, makes it a better recipe for those with higher blood. I loved this recipe although i did make a few changes i used 2 lbs of fresh oysters and added a 1/2 lb of bacon (chopped and fried crispy) i double the sauce and used.


Oyster Stew A Comforting Winter Soup in Just 20 Minutes

Rich oysters, combined with creamy broth and a hint of bacon.

Oyster stew recipe with bacon. Stir in wine, scraping pan to loosen browned bits. Reduce heat to medium and add flour, old bay seasoning and salt. Drain saucepan of potato water keeping potatoes.

Add onion, celery, potatoes, collard stems, and 1 teaspoon of the salt. Fry your bacon really crispy in a medium sized stock pot. Cook, stirring constantly, until flour is nicely toasted, about 1 minute.

Melt butter in a large dutch oven over medium until foamy. Serve stew with crackers and garnish with sliced green onions. Add the oysters with their liquor and the bacon and cook until the oysters are just firm, 2 to 3 minutes.

This is my own easy version. Saute your onions and celery in rendered bacon fat and butter until tanslucent. Cook over low heat until edges of oysters begin to curl and mixture is hot but not boiling.

Rewarm the stew over moderate heat. Cook 2 minutes or until slightly thick, stirring constantly with a whisk. Oyster stew on new years eve is a winner because of what it is.

Add butter and heat until melted. Serve immediately with fresh parsley, hot sauce and soda crackers. It's rich, loaded with goodies, and so very delicious!

Once water starts to boil, will only take about 4 minutes.check them with a knife for tenderness.
